Scientists shed light on how resveratrol works

Pr_092_-_TRI_-_10_12_10_-_069A  Harvard geneticist published new findings inScience that offer an explanation of exactly how resveratrol might work. This chemical, found in red wine and chocolate, is often attributed to anti-aging but scientists have been unsure of the mechanism thus far.  Sinclair and colleagues’ data suggests that resveratrol activates a sirtuin enzyme called SIRT1 that breaks up proteins and stimulates cell rejuvenation. These results could have significant effects on drug research for diabetes, obesity, and cancer. What other natural products have you seen that claim to have life-extending properties?
